Easy 3 Step Shortcrust Pastry
  • 14oz (400g plain flour
  • 7oz (200g) butter
  • 3fl.oz (90ml) water
  • pinch salt
If you are working in a warm place put a mixing bowl in the refrigerator about 30 minutes prior to making this dough. This is to ensure the butter doesn’t melt whilst you are mixing it.
  1. Dice the butter and place it in the bowl of a food processor along with the flour and salt. Process for around 30 seconds until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
  2. Transfer the mixture into a mixing bowl. Make a well in the centre and pour in your water. Using your hand like a whisk, twist and mop up all of the flour mixture and press the dough together.
  3. Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and gently kneed the dough together. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes before rolling out.
