Hawaiian Sunrise Cocktail

This quick and easy Hawaiian Sunrise Cocktail is a refreshing take on the classic tequila sunrise cocktail.

Hey guys, how’s your week been? It is so nice to see you all back again to get your weekly cocktail hit.
This week we are going to keep using our tequila bottle as we create our eighth cocktail in THIS SERIES which is a twist on the classic tequila sunrise that I like to call the Hawaiian Sunrise Cocktail.

Are you guys starting to see a bit of a theme with this series so far?
Have you started to catch on that I might be a bit of a lover of the classics and twisted versions of them?
Well that’s because I am!!!
When you start your career as a bartender you get taught how to make and perfect all the classics. After awhile you learn to love and gain a deep appreciation for them. They are always simple, using only just a handful of ingredients. And make such a great base to create all kinds of variations with, like this Hawaiian Sunrise Cocktail.

Hawaiian Sunrise Cocktail

The thing that I love the most about the tequila sunrise cocktail is that it only needs three ingredients, is super easy to make, yet tastes absolutely spectacular.
All it requires is tequila for the alcohol content. Orange juice for the glass filler. And a splash of grenadine for an unreal colour addition and sweetness.

The trick to making a simple cocktail taste out of this world is the use of good quality ingredients. Pulpy orange juice from the cooler section of the supermarket instead of that reconstituted stuff you buy of the shelf. Using thick syrupy grenadine instead of cheap and watery raspberry cordial. And of course a mid range to high-end tequila.

For my twist on this classic creation I have kept things simple by adding only one more ingredient, pineapple juice. I used a good quality pulpy kind and love the way that this one ingredient takes this cocktail to a new level with out losing it classic flavor.

So let’s get started then. To create this cocktail you will need your bottle of tequila, a highball glass or something similar, your JIGGER and your BARSPOON.
Firstly fill your glass about ¾ full with ice. Then using your jigger measure your tequila, orange juice and pineapple juice and pour into the glass.
Next you want to give the cocktail a good mix with your barspoon. A good technique to do this is to hold the barspoon handle between your fingers and thumb then roll the handle back and forth whilst lifting up and down at the same time.
Finally fill the glass with more ice if needed then pour the grenadine on top, which will sink to the bottom of the glass. Then garnish with a couple of orange slices.
Serve with the layered effect and give a stir with your straws before drinking.

Now you can’t get much easier than that, right?
And you don’t even have to stay up all night to wait for a sunrise to drinks this deliciously refreshing cocktail. A sunset would do just fine.
And if you love this twisted classic you may also like to try my CREAMY COCONUT AND LIME FROZEN MARGARITA or my ORANGE SPATTERED MULE, they both go down a treat.

Don’t forget to let me know how you guys go with this cocktail or any others in this series by leaving a comment below.
Until next time friends.
Cheers.
